Why are our Miami trees so pretty?

There are so many things that make Miami special, but one of my personal favorites is that here in Miami, orchids grow in trees! If you drive around town in the spring, you will see them everywhere you go.

What’s incredibly cool about these orchids is they thrive on neglect. I know, that sounds strange. But it’s true! Plant them in your tree and they will grow year after year.

Here are three fantastic orchid types perfect for your Miami trees:

  1. Phalaenopsis Orchids: Also known as moth orchids, Phalaenopsis orchids are renowned for their exquisite, long-lasting blooms. These beauties are adaptable to various light conditions and can withstand the subtropical climate of Miami with ease. Plant them in your trees, and watch as they grace your outdoor space with their elegant presence.

  2. Oncidium Orchids: With their striking colors and graceful cascading blooms, Oncidium orchids add a touch of tropical charm to any tree. These resilient orchids can tolerate neglect and thrive in Miami's humid climate, making them a perfect choice for tree planting.

  3. Dendrobium Orchids: Delicate yet hardy, Dendrobium orchids offer a burst of color and beauty to your outdoor oasis. With their diverse array of colors and shapes, Dendrobiums are sure to capture attention when planted in your trees. Plus, they're known for their ability to thrive with minimal care, making them an excellent option for the busy homeowner.

These three orchid varieties are like nature's gift to the lazy gardener – they thrive on neglect! But what other orchids can you toss into your trees and watch flourish without much effort? I'm excited to experiment with new varieties in my own trees!

Whether you're a seasoned orchid enthusiast or a newbie looking to dabble in tree planting, these low-maintenance orchids are sure to impress. Give them a try and let me know how it goes!
